DESCRIPTION: It focuses on the design, development, and implementation of Knowledge Engineering solutions in public and private organizations.

KEN – Knowledge Modeling and Representation

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on Knowledge Engineering approaches for knowledge modeling and representation.

KMA – Theory and Practice in Knowledge Management

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on the theory and practice of knowledge management and its relations with knowledge engineering and media. Thus, it involves research focused on the collective planning and alignment of knowledge by different dimensions of analysis, including individual, group, organizational, inter-organizational or networked analysis.

KMA – Organizational Knowledge Management

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on theoretical and practical studies regarding the use of knowledge as a strategic production factor within the management of business connected to knowledge economy. This area investigates the fundamentals of organizational knowledge management, such as the organizational learning process and its subprocesses of knowledge creation (identification, integration, socialization, retention-disposal, innovation, memory, ownership, evolution, and governance).

KMA – Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on methodologies, techniques and tools of knowledge management applied to the promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation, and organizational sustainability. It proposes studies which consider the creation and application of knowledge as a key factor for the changes required by the knowledge economy, such as studies on the entrepreneur profile; environmental governance; and innovation networks.

KME – Theory and Practice in Knowledge Media

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on the construction, communication, preservation and diffusion of knowledge and its relations with knowledge engineering and management.

KME – Media and Dissemination of Knowledge

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on the capture, production and diffusion of information based on technological means. It carries out a reflection and analysis of the social implications of the growing dependence of society on technological means of communication.

KME – Media and Knowledge in Education

DESCRIPTION: It focuses on studies aimed at maximizing the teaching process efficiency through the use of technological means.  It addresses the application of computer science, communication, and cognitive sciences in knowledge construction, problem solving, planning, education and training, with an emphasis on facilitating collaboration, distance learning, and education based on multimedia technologies.
